Get to Know Us

At Daps College Admissions Planning Service (DapsCaps), we are caring educators at heart. We want to make this process easier for your student and family while helping to reduce everyone’s stress level. We aim to support your student in their educational journey, whatever that may look like.

Our personalized approach helps students explore the possibilities that college offers, while guiding them to identify the kind of environment they seek, the academic and social experiences they want, the areas of study they are most interested in, and more.  We are big believers in providing as much helpful information to your student and family as possible. Each student is different, and we aim to build their confidence through this process and help them feel supported as they navigate the many choices along the way. We strive to create a future they are excited about as they make their way into this pivotal new time of their life.

John (Jack) S. Dapkewicz

John (Jack) S. Dapkewicz is a local educator with two decades of experience as a math coach, math teacher, math tutor, and school administrator. He earned his B. S. in Administrative Studies from the University of California, Riverside where he was a recruited Division 1 athlete in water polo.  He became captain of the water polo team and was selected for the All Conference Tournament Team.  He also holds a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and a Math Supplemental Teaching Credential from the University of La Verne, and a Credential in Educational Leadership from California State University, Sacramento.  He is a member of the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development, the California Mathematics Association, and the National Council of Teachers in Mathematics. 
 
He has presented at numerous conferences on the topic of math curriculum and educational strategies.  He has been a consulting teacher to new teachers and to teachers implementing science, technology and math curriculum. His extensive experience with students of all ages, kindergarten through 12th grade, gives him excellent grounding in developing student potential at all levels.

Rachel A. August-Dapkewicz

Rachel A. August-Dapkewicz is an Independent Educational Consultant and has been a University Professor at California State University, Sacramento since 1997.  She specializes in the areas of psychology, career development, college student-athletes and college admissions planning.  She earned her Ph. D. in Psychology from the Claremont Graduate University.  She also holds an M. A. in Psychology from the Claremont Graduate University, a B. A. in Psychology from the University of Virginia, and a Certificate in Independent Educational Consulting from the University of California, Irvine - Division of Continuing Education.  She is a member of the National Association for College Admissions Counseling, the National Career Development Association, and the Academy of Management. 

 

She has published in numerous academic journals and books, as well as presented at national and international conferences on the topic of career transitions among women and college student-athletes.  Her depth of experience with college students, including instructing and advising thousands of college students over two decades, provides her with an excellent understanding of college student life.  Her formal training in career assessment and research methodology provides her with the skills to access and utilize a wide array of resources to find the college that is right for you.
